What is the average age of the groups?
Each group varies. It’s generally a mix of independent travelers in their fifties, sixties and sixty-plus. Some of the groups include first-time visitors to Italy ; others have been here before and while they love Italy , prefer to let us negotiate the winding roads of the hilltowns.
What additional costs will we have?
As you can see by the itinerary, round trip airfare and transportation to the first hotel is not included, nor alcoholic beverages not included with meals. We like to organize dinners at the beginning and end of the tours and many enroute. Please consult the individual tours to see exactly what is and isn’t included.
Will there be any free time to explore on our own?
We have also found that most travelers like to explore on their own. That’s why we provide group transportation on several evenings into the local towns. We give you a map of the town with the location of restaurants, and off you go for a quiet meal or perhaps with some newly-made friends?
While we are visiting the hilltowns, cities and monuments, you’ll have time on your own to enjoy an outdoor cafe and take in the local colors.
What is the best time of year to visit Italy ?
Experience has proven that the climate of Spring and Autumn are the best times to see Italy . Summers can be extremely warm with temperatures in the 90’s, not the best touring experience. That’s why we have scheduled all of our departures to take in the best seasons.
How much walking is involved?
Depends on the tour. Those hilltowns need to be climbed. We stop enroute for a tea or coffee break. Bring comfortable walking shoes to negotiate the stone-paved streets.
Is there any limit on luggage?
We suggest that you pack lightly. The Inns and estates we stay at are out in the countryside. Usually, they do not have porters available, so you will have to carry your own luggage. Packing suggestions will be provided for each individual tour, depending on the season.
